Grades: 11 – 12

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Naval Science 2, no major discipline infractions, recommendation of Senior Naval Science Instructor.

This is an elective course for cadets who have met the prerequisites.  Students learn the concept of sea power as presented by Alfred Thayer Mahan, The United States military strategy, the national security planning process and the role of the Merchant Marine and the US Coast Guard in the defense of the US. Naval Skills such as, shipbuilding, the 24 hour clock, and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and basic seamanship are also taught in this course.
