My name is Mr. Walker, and this is my 25th year as a school counselor with Saint Paul Public Schools. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling K-12.

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as well as explain to you some of the services offered through the school counselor. Through a developmental School Counseling program, we assist students as well as faculty and parents. We are an active participant in the growth and development of your student academically, socially, emotionally, and personally.

It is my goal to help students reach their academic potential, develop decision-making skills, develop problem and conflict resolution skills, establish and maintain positive personal/social relationships, teach prevention skills, aid in successful transitions and advocate for all students. School counselors also act as a resource person for parents and staff in addressing behavioral and academic needs of students. These goals are reached through individual and/or group classroom guidance lessons, and crisis intervention. Referrals may also be made to outside agencies for those issues that reach beyond the scope of the school counselor.

It is my goal as the school counselor to help our students achieve academically and personally in all aspects of their lives. Please join me in making this year a successful one for you and your child!
