    Nyob Zoo!

Hello! My name is Mr. Yang. I teach Hmong Language and Culture, as well as rotating between Hmong American Studies and Asian American Studies every other year, at Washington Technology Magnet Schools. This will be my 8th year in the district and I have over 15 years of experience working in an urban education setting. I have a strong passion for teaching and helping positively influence and shape our students to become lifelong learners and contributing members to society. My philosophy is to develop and connect students with their identity, to show and expose students to different opportunities, and to help them dream and believe beyond what they can imagine.

About myself; I was born in Ban Vinai in Thailand and my family immigrated to the United States when I was two. I grew up in the projects in north Minneapolis, before moving out to Brooklyn Center. My undergrad is from Carleton College with a B.A. in American Studies and a Minor in Education. I also earned my Masters of Education in Educational Design and Technology from the University of St. Mary’s of Minnesota. I'm currently working on a Masters of Education in World Language from Concordia College Moorehead.

I am married with four children, three girls and one boy, ranging from age 9 down to a newborn. I am a casual MN sports fan. However, I especially enjoy watching the Twins and Timberwolves, as I also work for the MN Twins and the Target Center as my “fun” side jobs. I am very easy going, flexible, and spontaneous. I love to spend time with my family, especially traveling, shopping together and enjoying the outdoors with them.

    Sib ntsib dua!

    See Yee Yang
