    ABOUT ME

This is my 11th year at Washington Technology Magnet and I am excited to be back and ready for the new year! I teach two sections of geometry and two sections of AVID 10. I graduated from the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul with a degree in math education. I am currently working on my Master's in Educational Studies with a focus in math.  I have been in the St. Paul Public School district my whole teaching career.

Traveling is one of my passions.  Throughout college I studied abroad to Peru and India.  Peru was a trip to learn more about applied mathematics in the ancient Incan culture.  We visited 7 cities around Peru, my favorite being Arequipa, and many ancient Incan ruins, like Macchu Picchu.  Inda was a trip to learn more about the religions and cultures of India.  We participated in many festivals, religious ceremonies, and stayed with an Indian family for a week.  It was a real enriching experiment and would go back in a heartbeat!  Other places I have traveled to have been Mexico, with a few friends.  I visited Paris, Rome, and Venice with my sister in the summer of 2011.  Morocco was one of my favorite places where I even camped overnight in the desert!  I was able to Honeymoon in Australia as well.

My most recent trip was to Thailand and Myanmar through a fellowship with three other teachers at Washington.  While we were there, we learned about the Karen culture and their educational background to help us better teach our students.  It was a once in a lifetime learning experience and we hope to help our Karen students succeed in school.

During the summer, I enjoy camping and hiking throughout the United States. My favorite and hardest hike has been at the Grand Canyon. We hiked down the canyon, which took 5 hours and spent three days exploring the canyon and swimming in the waterfalls.
