Naval Science 1

  • Grades 9 - 12

This course lays the foundation for the Navy JROTC cadet. It combines military drill and ceremonies, uniform regulations, physical fitness, orienteering, principles of health, first aid, and survival into one distinguishable course of instruction. It also introduces the cadet to the precepts of citizenship, the elements of leadership, and the value of scholarship in attaining life goals. This course is also designed to engender a sound appreciation for the heritage and traditions of America, with recognition that the role of sea power will be important in America's future, and develop in each cadet a growing sense of pride in his/her organization, associates, and self. These elements are pursued at a fundamental level. Cadets will take end of semester and end of year examinations as well as be graded on their practical application of military appearance, drill, and courtesy.
