Trying to be the best at school, sports, or anything else is an endless pursuit. There will almost always be someone better, so just focus on being the best version of yourself that you can be, and don't try to be someone you're not. Our uniqueness is our most valuable asset.

I would advise them to be themselves. This is the fastest and most honest way to find those who you would spend the next four years with, if not more. Join after school clubs and sports. This would expose you to more groups, so you can have something that you can call your own.

Joining sports and clubs early on in your high school career will provide you with an amazing way to meet new people and make friends that can last throughout the entirety of high school. Also, just have fun and give your best effort and everything will probably work out.
