Mentees

  • Welcome to Saint Paul Public Schools! We appreciate our new educators. Through our Mentor Mentee Program, we hope to provide systems of support for our educators as they embark on the journey of educating St. Paul's children and developing themselves as educators.

The Mentor Mentee Program is individualized, differentiated and flexible to meet professional growth goals for educators just entering the field of education or those coming to Saint Paul Public Schools with previous experience. All probationary educators participate in the Mentor Mentee Program in their first year of employment if they are not working with a Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) Coach. Most mid-year hires will work with a mentor during the year they are hired (10 hours), and support will carry over into the next school year (10 hours). Throughout the course of the school year, mentees will engage in:

    • Goal setting to determine differentiated mentoring support
    • Differentiated mentoring activities based upon mentee goals
    • Reflections regarding collaborative work with mentors and professional growth

    Full-Year Mentorship

    • Educators hired before December 1 will participate in a full year of mentorship.
    • At least 20 hours outside the school contract day to complete mentoring activities.
    • Two reflections will be completed by the mentee reflecting upon their collaborative work with their mentor.
    • Mentees will be awarded 20 clock hours and 2.0 in-service credits for successful completion of the program.

    Half-Year Mentorship - Year 1

    • Educators hired after December 1 will participate in a half year of mentorship (ending in May of the school year)
    • At least 10 hours outside the school contract day to complete mentoring activities.
    • One reflection will be completed by the mentee reflecting upon their collaborative work with their mentor.
    • Mentees will be awarded 10 clock hours and 1.0 in-service credits for successful completion of the program.

    Half-Year Mentorship - Carryover

    • Educators hired after December 1 who completed a half-year of mentorship will participate in a half year of mentorship the following school year (generally in the fall)
    • At least 10 hours outside the school contract day to complete mentoring activities.
    • One reflection will be completed by the mentee reflecting upon their collaborative work with their mentor.
    • Mentees will be awarded 10 clock hours and 1.0 in-service credits for successful completion of the program.

Each spring, a Mentor Mentee Program Survey is conducted to gain valuable information about the strengths and challenges of the Mentor Mentee Program. Surveys are emailed to both mentors and mentees in the Mentor Mentee Program to solicit feedback.
