Saint Paul Public Schools Music Education provides students with a culturally relevant, comprehensive, standards-based music education. We believe the study of music fosters artistic development, critical thinking, academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and the pursuit of life-long learning. Through performing, composing and responding to music, all students develop individual skills, realize a sense of belonging, and establish connections to their community.
Students in Saint Paul Public Schools have opportunities in:
- Elementary K-5 classroom music
- Extended Day Learning (EDL) Elementary Instrumental Music
- Secondary Music Classes that include Choir, Band, Orchestra, Songwriting/Composition, Guitar, Piano/Keyboard, Musical Production, Music Tech/Studio Production, World Music Ensembles, Music
- Exploration (6-8), and Music Appreciation classes in World Music and American Music genres
