Medica Coverage & Plan Designs

  • Medical insurance coverage is available to benefit-eligible employees working at least 20 hours per week.  Medica offers the set of health insurance coverage plans offered for the following Bargaining Units:

    AFSCME, Association of Supervisory and Supervisory Personnel (ASAP), Bus Drivers, Classified Confidential, Custodians, Machinists, Manual Maintenance, Nutrition Services, PEA, Principals, Superintendency, and Supervisors (SPSO), and Teaching Assistants (TA).

    The current medical insurance carrier for the above unions is Medica.  Benefit eligible employees can enroll into coverages within 30 days of their hire date, during Active Enrollment or within 30 days of a qualifying status change.  Levels of coverage include employee only, employee plus one dependent, and family coverage.   • HSA

    HSA Medical Plan with Open Access

    The HSA Plan combines HealthPartners medical coverage with  an optional self-funded, pre-tax savings/investment account through Optum Bank you can use to pay for your qualifying out-of-pocket health care expenses.
    This option has a mid-range deductible and out-of-pocket costs, with a reduced premium cost per paycheck.

  • HSA HSA Medical Plan with Park Nicollet or Vantage Plus ACO

    The HSA Plan combines medical coverage with  an optional self-funded, pre-tax savings/investment account through Optum Bank you can use to pay for your qualifying out-of-pocket health care expenses.
    This HSA Plan has the highest deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, but offers the lowest premium cost per paycheck.
