Jim Vue | Chair

  •

Jim Vue was selected to serve on the Board as an interim member in July 2020, and elected to serve in a special election on November 3, 2020.  He was then re-elected to serve in November 2021.

He and his wife, Sai Thao, and their four children live on the East Side of Saint Paul.  Their children attend Saint Paul Public Schools and range in age from high school to Early Childhood Family Education.  Vue is a graduate of Metropolitan State University with a major in History and a Masters in Liberal Arts.  He currently works as a Personal Care Assistant for Partners in Community Service.

Director Vue and his family have been a part of Saint Paul Public Schools for the past 13 years, and his experience as a parent in the district is a value to the Board.  With his strong background in parent leadership and special education navigation, he aims to steer Saint Paul Public Schools to act as a vessel for racial justice and social change.  Vue thanks his wife for being his main source of encouragement.  He notes that a favorite aspect of the district is that "SPPS is one of those unique places that brings people of all interests and life experiences to a space that they otherwise could not on their own. It's a phenomenon of beauty worth struggling for."

In his free time, Director Vue enjoys going for walks and long drives, and traveling.  He is also a big fan of Lord of the Rings.
