    While the resume is a synopsis of your work history, your cover letter can be considered your marketing tool. The cover letter allows you show your interest in the position, explain why you are the best candidate for the job, invite the employer to contact you, and allow you to focus on qualities that may not be highlighted on the resume.

    Tips on preparing a cover letter:

    • Use standard business letter format.
    • Address letter to the hiring manager, Human Resources, or "To Whom it May Concern"
    • Target the skills that make you unique. Highlight your accomplishments in your career.
    • Include day and evening contact information.
    • Indicate your desire to meet with the hiring manager.
    • Explain why you ARE the best candidate for the position!
