Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):  

How do I register for the Earn as You Learn program? 

• If you're an SPPS student in grades 8-12 and interested in completing the Earn as You Learn program, please sign up at this link.

 What is the timeline to complete the Earn as You Learn program? 

• Depending on the certificate you selected and your work style, it'll likely take somewhere between 30 and 40 hours to complete the work.
• The work is asynchronous - this means students work virtually at their own pace. Some students will complete the work in a few weeks and others will take longer. Some students may spend 5 hours a week (that's 1 hour a day) working on this program, while others may spend 10 hours or more. Consider making a weekly schedule.
• All work should be completed by the end of the school year. The sooner you complete the work, the sooner you'll receive your stipend.

Will I be able to earn more than two certifications?

• Yes, students can earn additional certifications in OSHA, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. The Microsoft certifications are well-recognized and look great on your resume.  

Can I earn more than one stipend?

• Yes, students can complete the program up to three times. For the first experience, students complete two certifications and FoolProof financial literacy. For the second time, students complete two certifications and employability skills. Students can complete and pass Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel certifications anytime to receive a $300 stipend. 

What about certifications in other areas?

• Due to technology requirements, level of knowledge required, and other factors, we’re offering a select number of certifications. If there is a certificate you're interested in, please provide the name of the certificate and the website where more information can be found on the SY 2023-24 Student Interest link. 

Will the student be required to pay for any of the certifications being offered?

• The certification course and exam fees are paid with grant dollars. It is FREE for students to earn certifications. 

How will I take the certification exams?

• All exams may be taken from home or school. The OSHA exams can be taken at the end of the online course. For Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or Access, you can schedule an online exam at this link. There is an in-person component for those who sign up for the First Aid/CPR/AED certification course. 

What are the OSHA codes? 

Do I have to pass the exam to earn the $300 stipend?

• Yes - taking the online course, understanding the content, and reviewing what you learn should prepare you for the exam. Over 1000 certifications have been earned by SPPS students. You can do it!

How do I receive the $300 stipend?

• You'll be receiving a pre-paid card. Once you complete the End of Program feedback form, the stipend takes 6-8 weeks to process.
