Out of School Time Activities

  • After- or before-school activities are great opportunities for upping physical activity time. Programs, such as organized running clubs, intermural sports or open gym time, provide a structure for students to organize their time around.

    • Running clubs can take several different forms.
      • Several SPPS elementary schools participate in Girls on the Run, centering girl empowerment around a physical activity. This program is focused on elementary- and middle school-age girls.
      • Marathon Kids works toward having kids build on the goal of running 104.8 miles over the course of a running season. It is open to students in preK-12th grade, of all fitness levels.
