Objective: Connecting families who have children with an IEP attending Txuj Ci Lower Campus

Special Education Parent Academy assists parents with

understanding the school and special education systems

to be effective advocates for their child's education and

make informed decisions. 

• Connect with other families and school staff
• Learn ways to support your student 
• Get answers to questions about special education
• Understand the options and services available

Program Outline:

Week 1: individual strengths & goals

               home school, community connections

Week 2: special education processes

               evaluation & IEP basics

Week 3: positive discipline & behavior supports

               FBA & BIP basics

Week 4: progress reporting for academic standards

               accommodations & assistive technology

Week 5: preparing for transition to post-secondary options

Program Offerings:

• Language specific sessions in Hmong
• Graduation Ceremony (date to be determined)
• Materials for each session
• Light meal
• Childcare
