Teaching scholars how to adapt and develop skills required to be successful through academics, school-based therapy, and positive relationships.
With a mental health focus, our program provides therapeutic services to students in grades K-8. Small class sizes - no more than eight students per teacher - mean lots of individualized attention. Each classroom is assigned a special education teacher and two paraprofessionals.
Students' mental health needs are addressed through daily group enrichment activities that are run by a social worker and a mental health practitioner. Our dedicated staff works closely with caregivers and community providers to ensure a program that meets each student's needs. Through our motivational behavior program, students work in a token economy by earning points for demonstrating safe, respectful and responsible behaviors.
I am Katie Horton, the proud principal of RiverEast Therapeutic Day School. I have been the principal at RiverEast since 2016 and in SPPS since 2001. I am proud of the committment our staff have to meeting our students' individual needs. Together, we work to build relationships with students and their families to help them achieve success. I look forward to working with all of our families this school year!
