Our Why? Racial Equity Transformation Through Foundations.

To strengthen the transition from elementary to middle school and from middle school to high school, an every-other-day advisory course titled "Foundations" will be part of a middle school student's day. Foundations brings culturally responsive instruction into the classroom by providing students opportunity to share their personal, local and immediate experiences with teachers and peers. Students will have the opportunity discuss the changes occurring in their lives around issues such as relationships, bullying, harassment, online safety, and financial and college and career exploration.

Our How? Foundations Supports Personalized Learning.

Students will learn about Digital Citizenship, explore post-secondary options through Naviance and college readiness activities, and enhance their academic skills.

Aligning with Strong Schools Strong Communities 2.0 Goal 1: Achievement: Ready for College and Career, Foundations supports holistic student development through creating middle school culture focused on college and career by providing all  students with academics, resources and opportunities to explore potential future career and post-secondary pathways.
