Important Grants Reminders - Sept 2023

Please review these important reminders about grants management throughout the district:

  • The Innovation Office oversees administrative responsibilities for fund development and grants management. We can support staff through all stages of the grants process by offering feedback, brainstorming ideas, navigating district procedures/policies, and making sure you are committing to resources the district can support. Visit spps.org/grants for more information.

  • All grants must come through the Innovation Office to secure authorization for submission by your school principal or department leader and the Superintendent, as well as acceptance of the award by the Board of Education. A Board Agenda Item (BAI) and contract (if applicable) must be routed and approved before the grant owner can spend the grant money.

  • Effective Friday, September 29, 2023, the Innovation Office will turn down any grants that do not come through our office for authorization prior to submitting the application. If you have applied for a grant that will begin in the 2023-24 school year, please fill out the SPPS Intent for Grant Application Form to notify the Innovation Office so your grant is not turned down. (SPPS does NOT track or provide administrative support for crowdfunded efforts such as GoFundMe.)

  • Still have questions? Join us for a virtual grant training on October 26 from 4-5:30 p.m. The training will provide an overview of the grants process at SPPS, give support in identifying funding sources and review grant application best practices. Our team will also overview grant programs available to SPPS teachers. Use this link to join the virtual meeting!

Please contact Fund Development Manager Kerry York-Myles (kerry.york-myles@spps.org) with any additional grant questions.
