Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and the Saint Paul Federation of Educators (SPFE) held the last negotiations meeting of 2023 on Thursday, Dec. 21, to discuss the next contracts for Teachers, Educational Assistants (EAs) and School and Community Service Personnel (SCSP). It was a productive working session with two tentative agreements reached. The two tentative agreements are:

• SPPS Proposal 9 (Teachers): Personnel Changes Resulting from Staff Reduction (Article 15)
• SPFE Proposal 10 (Teachers): Tier 1 License Changes (Unit Definitions)

As shared previously, SPPS and SPFE jointly filed for meditation on Dec. 8. The first session with the Bureau of Mediation Services has been set for Wednesday, Jan. 24. Mediation sessions are closed to the public. The bargaining teams will continue to meet leading up to and in between mediation sessions, with a goal of continuing to reach tentative agreements and working toward settling a fair and financially sound contract for SPFE’s three bargaining groups.
