SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Dec. 8, 2023) -- Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and the Saint Paul Federation of Educators (SPFE) have jointly agreed to seek assistance from a state mediator as a proactive next step in the current round of contract negotiations. State mediation has been a useful tool in prior rounds of negotiations for the SPFE labor contract in St. Paul.

SPFE represents licensed educators including teachers, educational assistants, and school and community services personnel, and is the district’s largest bargaining unit. SPPS looks forward to continuing to negotiate in good faith while upholding our guiding values to reach a fair and financially sound contract. To date, SPPS has settled with four of the district’s other employee groups during the current bargaining cycle.
