Naturethon--Part of a Growing Trend

Participating Naturethon schools entered the second month of their outdoor learning challenge. Many found the unseasonably cold April weather a challenge but classes persevered and hopefully May will prove more hospitable to holding class outside.

Pre-K and Kindergarten students at Crossroads Montessori were out last week, despite the dreary weather. They loved the nature sight word hunt their teachers set up in the school courtyard, hunting for words like flower, tree, and rock. Once they found all the words and wrote them on their worksheet, they could come up with their own nature words.

Naturethon is a joint venture of SPPS' School Gardens, Safe Routes to Schools and Wellness programs. It runs through early June.
