    Middle Years Program (MYP) Criteria

    Foundations 5.A.1.1

    Create

    5.9.2.2.1 Collectively or individually apply inquiry methods of observation and research to investigate an idea
    5.9.2.2.2 Explore and plan themes, ideas, concepts or styles in preparation for an artwork
    5.9.2.3.1 Synthesize visual literacy strategies and conceptual intent to create artwork for a specific purpose.
    5.9.2.3.2 Balance freedom and ethical responsibility in the use of images, materials, tools, and equipment during art making
    5.9.2.4.1 Engage in constructive critique with peers, then reflect on, revise and refine works of art to improve one’s original intent

    Criteria A: Knowing and understanding

    i. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the art form studied, including concepts, processes, and the use of  subject-specific terminology

    ii. demonstrate an understanding of the role of the art form in original or displaced contexts

    iii. use acquired knowledge to purposefully inform artistic decisions in the process of creating artwork.

    Criteria B: Developing skills
    i. demonstrate the acquisition and development of the skills and
    techniques of the art form studied
    ii. demonstrate the application of skills and techniques to create,
    perform and/or present art.

    Criteria C: Thinking creatively
    i. develop a feasible, clear, imaginative and coherent artistic
    intention
    ii. demonstrate a range and depth of creative-thinking behaviors. iii. demonstrate the exploration of ideas to shape artistic intention
    through to a point of realization.

    Criteria D: Responding
    i. construct meaning and transfer learning to new settings
    ii. create an artistic response which intends to reflect or impact on
    the world around them
    iii. critique the artwork of self and others.
