Hello! My name is Emily Kurmis and I am the school counselor for students in grades 10-12, last names starting with A-G. This will be my first year at Highland Park Senior High and I am so excited to meet you all! 

 

I graduated in 2009 from Maple Grove Senior High, after which I attended the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire to earn my bachelor's degree in Spanish teaching. I worked as a Spanish teacher for two years in Colorado and Minnesota. I then earned my master's degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology at the University of Minnesota. This will be my 6^th year as a school counselor in Saint Paul Public Schools. 

 

In my free time, I love spending time outdoors. I fill up my summers with backpacking and camping trips and I do lots of hiking on the weekends with my dog, Lucy. I also love being creative, dabbling in photography, drawing, painting, knitting, etc.

 

I'm really looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of my students! Stop by the counseling office to say hi!
