Ms. Michael

Ms. Michael got her bachelors degree in theatre arts from Minnesota State University where she majored in theatre acting and directing and her masters in curriculum and instruction from the University of Minnesota. 

Ms. Michael also runs the after school theatre program at HPSH and produces 4 productions a year. She is an advisor for Link Crew, PRIZM Literary/Arts Magazine, Audio Drama and the Dare To Be Real racial justice/social justice program. Ms. Michael is part of the HPSH Equity Team. 

Before coming to HPSH, Ms. Michael was the executive director of AMAZEworks, a national nonprofit organization that works with teachers and administrators on equity and inclusion. During her 13 years there, she facilitated workshops and training for such organizations as: Head Start, National Association for the Education of Young Children, National Black Child Institute, National Association for Multicultural Educators, National Association of School Social Workers, The White Privilege Conference, and Creating Change Conference. She still works as an equity consultant when she has time.  Ms. Michael has also worked for YouthLink - an organization that provides services for homeless teens, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Minneapolis, and was the first education director for SteppingStone Theatre in Saint Paul. 

Ms. Michael has three adult children (two HPSH graduates) and lives in St. Paul with her husband, Stephen (who designs the sets for HPSH theatre productions), two dogs, three cats and too many fish. 

Ms. Michael teaches: Dare To Be Real, Yearbook, Acting, Intro to Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Playwriting.

Ms. Michael is advisor to: Theatre Club, Audio Drama Club, Dare To Be Real Club and PRIZM Magazine Club.
