Information for incoming 9th grade students and new 10-12th grade students

We are excited to welcome our incoming 9th grade students to Highland Park Senior High School. The transition to high school is an important step in the life of a student. We have a number of events to assist our freshman as they start their high school journey.  Please note the following dates and events:

August 31: 9th Grade Orientation. 9am-12pm.
Greetings and welcome to Highland Park Senior High. We are excited to welcome your freshman to our community.

Students can be dropped off in the high school parking lot off Edgecumbe or where the buses load on Snelling Avenue. Scots Squad Junior and Senior Mentors will meet them at the doors and show them where to go. They can be picked up in the same place.

At Freshmen Orientation, students will spend time with their Scots Squad Mentors and:
  • get their schedule for fall semester,
  • tour the building and find their classrooms,
  • spend time getting to know students in their advisor,
  • and meet some of their teachers and their advisor.

Your freshman should wear comfortable clothing and shoes they can play games in, bring a water bottle (our building does not have air conditioning), and bring their phones.

Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from school. This event is for students only.

August 31: 10th-12th grade Orientation. 1pm-2pm.
Students will learn their way around Highland and know their class schedule and get their iPads assigned to them. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from school. Parents are welcome to attend.

September 5: First Day of School.
School starts at 8:30am and ends at 3:00pm. For those students taking a school bus, the transportation department will mail bus details prior to the start of school. Students who are familiar with using student Campus will be able to look up their class schedule in advance.

September 14: Open House. 6:30pm-8:00pm.
Students and families are invited to tour the school, meet the staff and learn more about the courses that students are taking.
