    AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.  This in-school academic support program prepares students for college eligibility and success.  AVID is geared for students in the academic middle who are low-income, minority or without a college-going tradition in their families.  Students learn how to work successfully with teachers, take effective notes, and work collaboratively in rigorous courses.

    College Possible

    College Possible is a nonprofit organization that makes college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. College Possible’s services include academic support through ACT/SAT test preparation, college application assistance, financial aid consulting, guidance in the college transition, and support toward college degree completion.

    TRIO Upward Bound

    The St. Olaf College Upward Bound (UB) is a federally-funded TRIO program designed to help high school students reach college by providing academic and personal support and guidance. Upward Bound students are from families below 150% of poverty and would be the first generation in their family to attend college. Upward Bound operates year-round and features a six-week, residential summer component. Students participate during all four years of their high school careers.     MEP

    The mission of the Mentoring Excellence Program (MEP) is to provide guidance and support to promote the academic success of students of color culminating in the acquisition of a college degree. The MEP staff will work collaboratively with secondary and post secondary staff, parents and the community to provide support services and resources that will enhance MEP students' academic performance and positive self-esteem.
