Mr. Boivin

Welcome to Farnsworth!

My name is Alex Boivin. I began teaching at Farnsworth in Fall 2022. Before that, I worked in Hopkins and Minneapolis Public Schools and have also been a substitute teacher in Saint Paul. I'm very happy to have landed at Farnsworth!

I was born and raised across the river in Minneapolis, where I still live with my fiancée and our cat, Raven. In my free time I love watching classic movies, collecting vinyl records, playing trivia, and cheering on my favorite teams: the Minnesota Twins and Tottenham Hotspur (COYS!).

This year I am teaching sixth grade Minnesota Studies and seventh grade American Studies. In Minnesota Studies we will look at the ways in which the history, peoples, and geography of Minnesota have created the state we live in today. In American Studies, we will learn about the history of the United States; from the first indigenous people to the founding of the republic, through the Civil War, and into America becoming a world superpower. American Studies students will also undertake History Day where they research and present a project on a historical topic of their choice!

I love history and learning as much as I can about our world. The best part about teaching both sixth and seventh grade is getting to have some students two years in a row and building relationships that help us all learn our best!

Let's have a great school year!

(P.S. My last name is pronounced "BO-VIN", the first "i" is silent!)
