What does ELL mean? ¿Qué significa ELL?
ELL means English Language Learner. This is a child who speaks a language other than (or in addition to) English at home. ELL students are eligible to receive extra help at school, depending on their needs.
In our school, most of the students who are ELL speak Spanish at home.They receive ELL services because their home language and/or strongest language is Spanish. We might serve a child in Spanish, especially in primary grades or in English, depending on the student's specific needs. Our goal is to provide the child with the right tools to buildup his/her language proficiency.

"ELL" significa estudiantes de inglés. Es un niño que habla un idioma que no es inglés en la casa (o puede ser además de inglés).Estudiantes ELL pueden recibir ayuda especial en la escuela, dependiendo en sus necesidades.
En nuestra escuela, la mayoría de los estudiantes que son ELL hablan Español en casa. Ellos reciben servicios de ELL porque su idioma nativo y/o dominante es Español.  Las meastras de ELL podemos entregarles servivios en Español, especialmente en los grados primarios, o en Inglés dependiendo de las necesidades específicas del alumno. Nuestro objetivo es proveer al niño con las herramientas necesarias para construir proficiencia en el lenguaje.

ACCESS Testing Schedule 

Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test in the months of February and March. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our school and throughout our state.Teachers in our school use this information to help them make decisions about instruction.  Teachers also use these test scores to monitor the progress toward English proficiency.  You can find more information about this assessment here. 

Todos los años, los estudiantes inscritos en programas de aprendizaje de inglés reciben el examen de dominio del lenguaje—conocido como ACCESS for ELLs. El examen mide el desempeño lingüístico académico del idioma inglés de los estudiantes que son parte de esta población en nuestra escuela y en todo el estado.  En nuestra escuela, los maestros usan esta información para asesorarse y tomar decisiones sobre la instrucción.
