Dear Parents and Guardians: 

Welcome to Sra. Martinez’s fifth grade class! I am in classroom 3203 on the third floor. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share a little about the fifth grade.  

I was born in San José, Costa Rica, but my parents are Bolivian. Growing up, we spoke both English and Spanish at home​​. I studied at the University of Minnesota and University of St. Thomas. This year will be my thirteenth year at Adams but my twentieth-year teaching. 

This year we will be in person and rotating in the fifth grade classrooms.  Students will start and end their day in my homeroom class, but will move from class to class together throughout the day.  Sra. Guzmán will teach reading and writing and I will teach math and social studies. This is a great way to prepare for the transition to middle school in sixth grade.           

Fifth grade at Adams is a wonderful year!  We are working hard to prepare a fantastic year where we can grow and learn together.  This year our goal is for each student to increase in their Spanish capacity, achieve high goals academically, and be part of a classroom community where all our endeavors are mutually supported.

Queridos padres y guardianes: 

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de quinto grado de Sra. Martínez! Estoy en el aula 3203 en el tercer piso. Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para presentarme y compartir un poco sobre el quinto grado.

Nací en San José, Costa Rica, pero mis padres son bolivianos. Al crecer, hablábamos tanto inglés como español en casa. Estudié en la Universidad de Minnesota y en la Universidad de St. Thomas. Este año será mi decimotercero año en Adams pero mi vigésima año de enseñanza.

Nuevamente este año estaremos rotando en las aulas de quinto grado. Los estudiantes comenzarán y terminarán su día en mi clase principal, pero pasarán de una clase a otra juntos durante el día. Sra. Guzmán enseñará escritura y lectura y yo ensenare matemáticas y estudios sociales. Esta es una excelente manera de prepararse para la transición a la escuela intermedia de sexto grado. 

¡El quinto grado en Adams es un año maravilloso! Estamos trabajando duro para preparar un año fantástico en el que podamos crecer y aprender juntos. Este año, nuestra meta es que cada estudiante aumente su capacidad en español, logre altas metas académicas y sea parte de una comunidad en el salón de clases donde todos nuestros esfuerzos se apoyan mutuamente.
