Welcome to Maestra Lauren’s Kindergarten Class! 

I am happy to have you here :)

In our classroom, we will use lots of visual imagery to guide our Spanish learning and playing. We will use a lot of music and rhythm to learn routines and vocabulary. I love to celebrate learning milestones for academic skills, social skills, and self-regulation skills (regulation of emotions), as these are all equally important contributors to a positive kindergarten experience. We will learn about ourselves as well as who we share the world with by celebrating all different kinds of identities, as we are all valid! 

Who am I? 

I grew up near Duluth, Minnesota in a town called Cloquet. From there I attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where I studied Communication and Spanish. I discovered my passion for bilingual education when I studied abroad in Alicante, Spain, in 2014, where I had the opportunity to tutor kids in English. After I graduated college, I moved to Madrid, Spain for two years where I worked at a bilingual elementary school and continued to study Spanish. I finally decided to return to pursue my teaching license at Hamline University. My student teaching experience brought me to Adams and I have been here ever since. I have worked as a long term substitute, the building substitute, and as a kindergarten teacher. My heart is very full at Adams. 

I love to sing and draw, both of which flow into my lessons well. I also love to read, go for walks around lakes, spend time with my cat, Harvey, and spend time with my loved ones. My favorite foods are probably all kinds of fruit and pizza. My favorite color changes a lot, but I think right now I like blue and orange best!

En nuestro salón, usaremos muchas visuales y imagenes para guiar nuestro aprendizaje y tiempos de jugar en Español. Usaremos mucha musica y ritmo para aprender rutinas y vocabulario. Me encanta celebrar logros de cosas academicas, aprendizaje socio-emotional, y autorregulación (regulación de sentimientos), como todas estas cosas contribuyen igualmente a una experiencia positiva de kinder. Aprenderemos sobre nosotros mismos y también sobre con quienes compartimos el mundo al reconocer y celebrar todos los diferentes tipos de identidades. ¡Todos somos válidos! 

¿Quién soy yo?

Nací cerca de Duluth, Minnesota, en un pueblo que se llama Cloquet. Después fui a la universidad de Concordia College in Moorhead, MN donde estudié Comunicación y Español. Descubrí mi pasión por la educación bilingüe cuando estudie al extranjero en Alicante, España en 2014 donde tuve la oportunidad de dar clases particulares de inglés a algunos niños. Después de que me gradué de la universidad, me mudé a Madrid España durante dos años para trabajar en un colegio bilingüe y seguir mis estudios de Español. Finalmente, decidí volver a Minnesota para estudiar la enseñanza y recibir mi título. Mi práctica me dio una plaza en Adams y he estado aquí desde entonces. Mi corazón está llenísimo en Adams. He sido suplente a largo plazo, suplente del edificio, y una maestra de Kinder.

Me encanta cantar y dibujar–los dos combinan muy bien con las lecciones de kinder. También me gusta leer, ir a caminar cerca de los lagos, pasar tiempo con mi gato, Harvey, y con mis seres queridos. Mis comidas favoritas son todo tipo de fruta y pizza. Mi color favorito cambia mucho, pero por ahora creo que prefiero el azul y el anaranjado.
