¿QUIÉN SOY YO? 

     *Soy una GRADUADA DE LAS ESCUELAS PÚBLICAS DE MINNEAPOLIS .  Mi familia llegó a Minnesota cuando yo estaba en el tercer grado y asistí a las escuelas en Minneapolis, graduando de la preparatoria Roosevelt High School.  Luego, me gradué de Augsburg College (B.A.), Winona State University (M.S.) y Saint Mary's University (K-12 Principal Licensure).

     *Soy una MAESTRA VETERANA CON 25 AÑOS EN LAS ESCUELAS DE INMERSIÓN.  Empecé a enseñar aquí, en Adams, en 1995.  Éste será mi 20º año enseñando en Adams.

     *Soy la MADRE ORGULLOSA DE 2 ESTUDIANTES DE INMERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL.  Mi hijo, Deric, tiene 19 años y estará en su penúltimo año de la Universidad de Minnesota (Colegio de Ciencias e Ingeniería). Mi hija, Marissa,(que prefiere llamarse Ender) estará en octavo grado en Highland Park Middle School.  Los dos son medio-Peruanos y orgullosos de ser bilingües. 

     *Soy la ENTRENADORA & TUTORA DE UN PERRO DE SERVICIO. Minne-Sota (Minnie) es una chihuaha de 4 1/2 año que empecé a entrenar a las 6 semanas.  Estará conmigo todos los días, pero cuando está en su canguro está trabajando y no se puede tocar ni distraer. 

     *Soy una VIAJERA MUNDIAL.  Aprendí el español como una estudiante de intercambio en México después de la preparatoria.  Viví en Cuernavaca, Morelos durante un año y no he dejado de hablar el español desde entonces.  También he vivido en Perú durante un año y pasé un verano en Ecuador con viajes más cortos a Puerto Rico, la República Dominicana, Chile y Costa Rica.

     *Soy una AMANTE DE LA NATURALEZA.  Tengo 2 dragones barbudos, 1 Geco Leopardo, 2 cangrejos ermitaños y 5 petauros como mascotas. También cuido y crío a las mariposas monarcas para etiquetar y soltar cada otoño.  Compartiré esta pasión con los estudiantes al aprender acerca de su ciclo de vida y la migración anual que hace hasta México.

      *Soy una LECTORA & ESCRITORA.  Me encanta leer y compartir esta pasión con mis estudiantes.  También me encanta escribir poesía y narraciones cortos.  Espero inspirar a muchos niños y animarlos a escribir conmigo.  

     *Soy una ARTISTA ASPIRANTE.  Durante mi tiempo libre me encanta hacer manualidades creativas como crear mandalas, pintar, hacer mosaicos de vidrio, decorar tarjetas y libritos, y mucho más.  

     *Soy un LÍDER DE CAMPEONES.  En nuestra clase, ¡todos son CAMPEONES!  Ésto significa que mostramos compasión & empatía, nunca nos rendimos, nos atrevemos a aprender, siempre damos nuestro mejor esfuerzo y celebramos los éxitos de todos.

WHO AM I ? 

     *I am a GRADUATE OF THE MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS .  My family moved to Minnesota when I was in 3rd grade and I attended school in Minneapolis, graduating from Roosevelt High School.  I went on to graduate from Augsburg College (B.A.), Winona State University (M.S.) and Saint Mary's University (K-12 Principal Licensure).

     *I am a 28-YEAR VETERAN TEACHER IN SPANISH IMMERSION.  I began teaching here at Adams in 1995.  This will be my 20th year at Adams.  

     *I am the PROUD PARENT TO 2 SPANISH IMMERSION STUDENTS.  My son, Deric, is 19 and will be a junior at the U of M, College of Science & Engineering.  My daughter, Marissa, who prefers to be called Ender, will be an 8th grader at Highland Park Middle School.  Both are half Peruvian and proud to be bilingual.

     *I am the TRAINER & GUARDIAN OF A SERVICE DOG.  Minne-Sota (a.k.a. Minnie) is a 4 1/2 year old chihuahua that has been training and working with me since she was 6 weeks old.  She will be with me every day at school, but while she is in her pouch she is working and cannot be touched or distracted.  

     *I am a WORLD TRAVELER.  I learned Spanish as an exchange student to Mexico after high school.  I lived in Cuernavaca, Morelos for 1 year and haven't stopped speaking Spanish since then.  I've also lived in Peru for a year and have spent an extended period of time in Ecuador and have made shorter trips to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Chile and Costa Rica.

     *I am a NATURE LOVER.  I have 2 Bearded Dragons, 1 Leopard Gecko, 2 Hermit Crabs and 5 Sugar Gliders as pets.  I also raise Monarch Butterflies to tag and release in the fall.  I will share this passion with the students as we learn about the monarch life cycle and its yearly migration to Mexico.

     *I am a READER & WRITER.  I LOVE to read and share my love of reading with my students.  I also enjoy writing poetry and short stories.  I hope to inspire many children to try their hand at writing with me.

     *I am an ASPIRING ARTIST.  In my free time I love to try creative art activities like making mandalas, painting, making glass mosaics, creating cards and books, and many other things.

     *I am a LEADER OF CHAMPIONS.  In our class, everyone is a CHAMPION!  That means we show compassion & empathy, never give up, take risks with our learning, always work hard, challenge ourselves to do hard things and share in everyone's success!
