¡Hola y bienvenidos a la escuela Adams! 

Me llamo Janell Guzmán y soy profesora de quinto grado en el aula 3202. Este es mi noveno año enseñando aquí en Adams y mi onceavo año enseñando. Antes de venir aquí, estudié y enseñé en Green Bay, Wisconsin. Go Pack Go! :)

Podríamos decir que por cosas del destino resulté enseñando en Español. En la universidad de Wisconsin Green Bay, estudié un semestre de español, pero por suerte, terminé mi carrera en Cuernavaca, Mexico. Ahí viví con una hermosa y generosa familia y enseñé ingles por nueve meses. En esos nueve meses, estaba inmersa en la cultura y tenía que aprender como comunicarme con la familia, mis compañeros, los estudiantes y mis amigos. Después tuve la oportunidad de trabajar por dos años en la programa bilingüe en el districto de Green Bay como profesora de kinder. Aprendí aún más de mis estudiantes, las familas y mis compañeras porque todos hablaban español y algunos venían de otros países y culturas. 

Terminé aquí en Adams con la misma suerte. Quisé estar más cerca de mi familia pero era muy importante para mi seguir con el español. La escuela Adams me encontró y no pude dejar pasar la oportunidad. Mientras tanto, me casé con mi adorable esposo y tenemos dos hijos. Mi esposo es de Bogotá, Colombia y tratamos de hablarles a nuestros hijos en español e ingles. Tenemos la esperanza como ustedes que nuestros hijos serán bilingües como los niños que vienen a esta escuela. 

Espero inculcar el amor por el aprendizaje y español en todos los estudiantes como seguimos aprendiendo y creciendo juntos en un ambiente tan increíble. En quinto grado usamos los estudios sociales como temas para el trabjao que realizamos durante el año. Nos enfocamos en el tiempo pre-colonial, colonial y la revolucióon de los Estados Unidos. En matemáticas hay un énfasis en fracciones, multiplicación y división.

Hello and welcome to Adams!

My name is Janell Guzman, and I am a 5th grade teacher. This is my nineth year teaching here at Adams and my eleventh year teaching. Before coming here, I studied and taught in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Go Pack Go! :)

You could say that I sort of fell into teaching Spanish. At the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, I studied one semester of Spanish, but was able to finish my undergraduate career in Cuernavaca, Mexico. While there, I lived with a wonderful and generous family and taught English for nine months. In those nine months, I was immersed in the culture and had to learn how to communicate with the family, my colleagues, my students and my friends. Then I had the opportunity to work for two years in the bilingual program in Green Bay as a kindergarten teacher. I learned even more from my students, their families and my colleagues because everyone spoke Spanish and some came from other countries and cultures.

I ended up here at Adams with the same luck. I wanted to be closer to my family, but it was very important to me that I continued with Spanish. Adams found me, and I jumped at the chance. Meanwhile, I married my lovely husband, and we have two children! My husband is from Bogota, Colombia, and we speak with them in both Spanish and English. We have similiar hopes that they will be completely bilingual just as you have for your children. 

I hope to instill the love for learning and Spanish in all of our students as we continue to learn and grow in such an amazing environment. In fifth grade, we use social studies themes to guide our work. We study pre-colonial, colonial and the American Revolution. In math, there is an emphasis on fractions, multiplication and dividsion.
