In reading, students continue to build foundational skills by studying uncommon spelling patterns, vowel teams, and prefixes and suffixes. They also analyze literature and nonfiction texts that they read independently or as a class. In math, students deepen their understanding of place value and begin to add and subtract with regrouping. They also work on critical problem solving skills.
