First Grade

  • In first grade, many students come to school full of confidence and eager to learn! They are beginning to navigate friendship dynamics and are eager to share personal stories with their teachers and peers. In first grade, students are able to build upon their foundational skills from kindergarten. Many first graders learn how to read independently and can begin discussing the characters, themes, or information in the books they read. In math, students learn to solve story problems, begin their understanding of place value, and solidify their number sense and basic facts skills.
