Kindergarten is the first year of full-time school for many students. Children learn skills for school and begin developing independence in the classroom. Kindergarten has a big focus on social development including friendship skills and peaceful problem solving. Our kindergarten teachers help students gain the skills they need to feel confident at school. Kindergarteners also engage in academic tasks that build foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. They have daily lessons in phonics, reading comprehension and math. Students are well cared for while at our school; they receive breakfast and lunch, have outdoor recess on a playground designed for young children, and are able to learn in a caring environment.
