Hello and Welcome! My name is Ms. Thompson. After a rewarding career in Food Science, I completed my Master's Degree in K-8 Life Science Education and accepted a position in the Science Program at Crossroads Elementary School. I truly believe that the interdisciplinary focus afforded by our integration of the STEAM model is what helps to make our program unique. What is STEAM? It involves using problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills independently and as part of a team to learn & explore concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Learning experiences are enriched by time spent weekly in Science, Technology, Engineering, Creative Movement (Physical Education) and Art to further stimulate young minds and enhance their growth. 

FAQ: Where is our classroom located? We are on the Science side of the building in Room 1306. We will continue to have Breakfast-to-Go daily & a fruit or veggie snack Tuesday-Thursday, followed by lunch daily in an assigned area of the cafeteria. Recess will be on the playground most days, but we'll have indoor recess during inclement weather. Ms. Sara, our Media Specialist, will meet with the students weekly for a lesson and an opportunity to select & check out books. The former Inquiry Zone--our interactive/hands-on/minds-on work area centrally located on the first floor---is entering the final phases of renovation and may be reopening soon!                                                                                                                                                                               

Of course Science will continue to be taught in our classroom, as will Reading, Writing, and Social Studies.
