Music Department

  • Welcome to the Randolph Heights music room! All K-4 students spend 50 minutes once a week in music class. Together we sing, play instruments, move to music, learn about music across time and cultures, and develop musical skills, preferences, and vocabularies. Fourth and fifth graders also have an option to sign up for Band through the after-school EDL (Extended Day Learning) program.

Randolph Heights has a longtime tradition of grade-level performances for Kindergartners through 4th grade that range from vocal concerts to musical theater. Each grade stages a daytime show for the whole school, and then an evening performance for friends and families; check the school calendar for this year's lineup and prepare to be amazed and delighted by what your children will share with you.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the Randolph Heights PTA, students 2nd grade and older are already learning C and F chords on a classroom set of ukuleles that was purchased this year. It's been fun to see students who are shy about singing in class join in with enthusiasm when they have a ukulele to strum.

I'm at Randolph Heights on Mondays, Thursdays, and Wednesdays after 11:30, and I'm at Horace Mann Elementary on the other days. Please reach out anytime! Because I move between schools, email is usually a quicker way to reach me than voicemail. It's a joy and an honor to be a part of this wonderful school community, where all three of my children were students too!
