• Randolph Heights Attendance Procedures

Education is the key to your child’s successful future

and regular school attendance is the first step to academic achievement.

Classes start at 9:30 a.m. Students not in their classroom at 9:30 will be marked tardy.  Students may enter the building starting at 9:15 a.m.  Students that picked up before 4:00 will be marked absent left early, which is like a tardy.

If your child is ill and will not be in school please call our attendance line before 9:00 a.m.

The attendance line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  A doctor’s not is required if your child is out for 3 days or more in a row for an illness when they return.  Students with excessive absences due to illness may need to provide a doctor’s note or be evaluated in the school health office for each day they are out.

    Attendance Line: 651-744-2003

Please state your child’s full name, their teacher’s name, and the reason they will not be in school.  If your child is ill please be sure to state the nature of the illness so the school nurse can be notified.

If your child has a medical appointment during the school day they should only miss school during the time of the appointment - please bring in a note from the doctor.  If an appointment requires your child to be absent for more than ½ day, please have the doctor indicate that in the note.

If your child is going to miss school due to a family emergency please do your best to let us know before the absence occurs – either send a note, email or call the attendance line with the reason for the absence.

If your family observes a religious holiday that would require your child to miss school please send a note to school prior to the absence stating the child’s full name, the reason for the absence, and the dates the child will be missing from school.

Families are encouraged to schedule vacations so as not to conflict with school attendance. However, if your child is going to miss school due to a planned vacation please let the teacher know so they may provide missing work.  According to Ramsey County, vacations cannot be marked excused, but if your child's attendance is good, it won't be a problem. Please contact Roberta Hayes at roberta.hayes@spps.org in the office.

Students with unexcused absences, tardies, or excessive early pick-ups may be contacted by the school attendance liaison and may be required to participate in the Ramsey County Student Attendance Matters (SAM) program.
