Aaniin, Boozhoo!

My name is Michele Fairbanks and I am the Ojibwe Specialist at American Indian Magnet. I am an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe Indians.  I teach Ojibwe Language and Culture classes and also help plan the cultural events at our school. I enjoy singing songs, playing games, telling stories and creating works of art to make the Ojibwe culture come alive! We use apps on our iPads like Seesaw, Schoology, Kids Pic Collage, Blooket, Jeopardylabs, Quizziz and Google Meets.

I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1993 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I also attended Penn State University for a year and a half while working on my Master’s Degree. I have been working at the American Indian Magnet School since 1993! In my spare time, I enjoy sewing, beading, gardening, going for walks and spending time with my three children.
