Hau Mitakuyepi,

I am from Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota.  I am Hunkpapa Lakhota and Wahpe Khute Dakhota.  I moved to Minnesota in 1996 to attend the University of MN where I received my B.A. in American Indian Studies. I recently recieved my M.A. Ed in Differentianted Instruction from Concordia University, St. Paul  campus. I have been working for the Twin Cities Indian Community in both schools and non-profit community Indian agencies for the past 20 years.

In my spare time, I enjoy writing songs and playing music with my band, Pretendians.  I am attracted to art forms such as acting, painting, writing short stories and drawing.  I also like many sports like basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and lacrosse. I am a traditional dancer and powwow singer!

Wayne Manthey, a drum maker, came in to show our students how to make a drum. The hide is Texas raw hide. The body was donated by the family of Mary Foote.
