Hi! I'm Ms. Swanberg and I teach Music Exploration, Musical Production and Choir at HPMS. I grew up in Wisconsin, got a degree in Music Education from Augsburg University, then got a Masters degree in Vocal Performance at the U of M here in the Twin Cities. I taught elementry music in Robbinsdale for 7 years and then went on to sing musical theater and opera professionally. I moved to Mexico City to teach at the American School Foundation and lived there for 7 years. I met my husband there and my son was born in Mexico City. About 10 years ago my husband, son, 2 step kids and our dog came to St. Paul and I started teaching at Highland Park Middle School. Hablo español y en familia me llaman "chilangringa." :)

I love to use music to discover our own identities and learn about others. I'm dedicated to becoming and anti-racist teacher and welcome feedback in places I need to improve.

When I'm not teaching I like to be outdoors biking, walking, and kayaking or planting flowers in my backyard. But, when México (lindo querido) is playing fùtbol, you'll find me watching with my family.
