Welcome to OT Literacy 7-8 & to ELA 7 (IB MYP Lang & Lit) for Los Lobos 7th grade.  I am glad you are looking at this and hope you will find it's contents useful.

My name is Alicia Beaumaster.  I have been a teacher in this district since the beginning of my career in the fall of 2001.  I have taught at Highland Park Middle School since 2004. I am licensed to teach English classes grades 7-12 & I am a licensed reading specialist grades K-12.

Course Information

OT Literacy 7-8: OT stands for On Track. This course is designed to support students with the work we will do in ELA 7. I will be your student's teacher for both courses. OT Literacy meets 1st hour every other day.

ELA 7 (IB MYP Lang & Lit): ELA stands for English Language Arts. IB stands for International Baccalaureate. MYP Stands for Middle Years Program. Lang is short for Language and Lit is short for Literature. Whew! Now that we have expanded all the acronyms, let's talk about this course. This course builds on the Reader's and Writer's workshop classes you had in 6th grade. Throughout the year, you will read a lot of books (most of which you will choose). You will also write a lot. Sometimes we will write about the books we are reading, other times, we will write about the research we are conducting. You can expect a lot of partner and small group discussions and collaboration in this class as well.
