¡Hola a Todos!

Yo soy la Sra. Skovholt.  Yo naci en Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He vivido en los Estados Unidos por 24 años. En mi pais, estudie, Ingenieria Electrica. Luego de inmigrar a los Estados Unidos asistí a Metropolitan State University para estudiar docencia y me convertí en maestra de matemáticas en el año 2008. Luego en el año 2018, complete mi maestría Educacional en Matemática en la Universidad de Minnesota. 

Este año en Highland Middle, estare enseñando matematicas para el 7mo grado en el programa de Immersion y App Creator de Project Lead The Way (PLTW).

Nota de Mate para los padres y estudiantes,

La clase de matemáticas consiste en el aprendizaje de conceptos y habilidades de acuerdo con los estandares de matemáticas del 7mo grado del estado de Minnesota.  En el aula de clase los estudiantes aprenderán por medio lecciones, actividades, toma de nota, práctica en clase y en casa y pruebas formativas y sumativas. 

Vamos a usar Schoology como plataforma en donde encontraras los materiales de clase, recursos y pruebas.  Asi como también el acceso al progreso académico por medio de calificaciones.La página de matemática está organizada con carpetas semanales por fecha y la carpeta más reciente aparecerá siempre al principio o arriba en la página de materiales. Cada carpeta semanal contendrá las lecciones y materiales diarios.

La entrega de los trabajos en clase y tarea será también por medio de Schoology. Los estudiantes entregarán sus trabajos ya sea subiendo documentos trabajados en su iPad o tomándole foto a su trabajo terminado en su cuaderno de notas de matemáticas.

EXPECTATIVAS SOBRE TAREAS DE MATE EN CASA:

Las tareas en casa serán asignadas en clase y completadas en casa para entregar al siguiente día. De esa manera, yo podre revisarlas con consejos. Estudiantes que entreguen su tarea a tiempo recibirán su calificacion por completarla y consejo el siguiente día de su clase.  Tareas pueden ser entregadas tardes sin penalidad. Para las tareas tardias, se recibirá su calificacion por completarla sin consejo. 

Todos los trabajos de matemática incluyendo tareas tendrán fecha de entrega y pueden ser entregadas tardes hasta dos semanas de ser asignado.  Después de este tiempo, el estudiante tendrá que escribirme un correo electrónico explicando su tardía y con el trabajo terminado adjunto al correo electrónico.

Hello everyone!

I am Sra. Skovholt. I am from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I have been living in the U.S. for 24 years. Back in my country, I studied Electrical engineering. After I moved to the U.S., I attended Metropplitan State University and became a math teacher in 2008. In 2018, I completed my master's degree in mathematics education at the University of Minnesota.

This year at Highland Middle I will be teaching 7th grade math in the Spanish Immersion program and App Creators from Project Lead The Way (PLTW).

Math Note for parents and students,

Math class will consist of learning concepts and skills that are aligned with the state of Minnesota standards of mathematics for 7th grade. In class, students will learn through lessons, activities, taking notes, practice in class and at home and formative and summative assessments. 

We will be using Schoology as a platform where you'll find class materials, resources and assessments as well as to access academic progress through grades. The math page is organized with weekly folders with the most recent appearing at the top. Each weekly folder will be dated and will contain each day's lesson materials and/or resources. 

Work submission will also be through Schoology.  Students will be either uploading documents worked on their iPad or submitting screenshots of their completed work from their notebooks to submit to Schoology.

ABOUT MATH HOMEWORK: 

Homework will be assigned in class and completed at home to turn in THE NEXT DAY. It is important that students turn in homework the next day it is assigned. Students will receive their completion grade and feedback in Schoology upon being received on time. Late submissions will be accepted with no penalties. For late homework, a grade will be recorded without feedback. 

All assignments will have a submission date and will remain open for a two-week period from the date it was assigned. After this time, students will be required to write Sra. Skovholt an email to explain the tardiness and their late assignment attached to the email.  

*Remind students if they are having difficulty understanding math, they should ask for assistance in class or email me.  I am here to help!
