Spanish Immersion Program at Highland Park Middle School 

The Spanish Immersion Program at Highland Park Middle School is a designed for students who have completed an elementary Spanish immersion program and wish to continue to grow and build their academic Spanish skills through immersion. Our program is also open to other students, both native and non-native Spanish speakers, who show sufficient language proficiency. Our immersion program is a natural fit to the vision and goals of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP). Through the MYP, Highland Middle serves as the academic bridge between early learning, success during adolescence and productive global citizenship.

Students from Wellstone Elementary, Riverview West Side School of Excellence and Adams Spanish Immersion School advance to Highland Middle for 6th grade joining a diverse and thriving community of multi-lingual students from all over our city. Upon completing 8th grade, our Spanish immersion students advance directly to Highland Park Senior High School where the immersion program continues through 12th grade. Spanish Immersion students at Highland Senior can graduate with Minnesota Department of Education Bilingual and Multilingual Seals or World Language Proficiency Certificates that accompany their diploma. Highland Senior is one of few high schools that offer these endorsements that can also accompany an International Baccalaureate Diploma.

 El programa de inmersión en español en Highland Park Middle School está diseñado para los estudiantes que han completado un programa de inmersión en español de primaria y desean continuar creciendo y desarrollando sus habilidades académicas de español a través de la inmersión. Nuestro programa también está abierto a otros estudiantes, tanto hablantes nativos como no nativos de español, que demuestren suficiente dominio del idioma. Nuestro programa de inmersión es cabe naturalmente con la visión y los objetivos del Programa de Bachillerato Internacional para los Años Intermedios (MYP). A través del MYP, Highland Middle sirve como puente académico entre el aprendizaje temprano, el éxito durante la adolescencia y la ciudadanía global productiva.

Los estudiantes de Wellstone Elementary, Riverview West Side School of Excellence y Adams Spanish Immersion School avanzan a Highland Middle para 6º grado, uniéndose a una comunidad diversa y próspera de estudiantes multilingües de toda la ciudad.
