The Johnson High School Aerospace and Engineering Department is very excited to offer the rigorous challenges of Aerospace and Engineering to its students as the SPPS Aerospace and Engineering Magnet high school in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  This unique opportunity helps prepare students in the areas of mathematics, science, engineering and technology and encourages each and every single student to reach beyond the stars.  

Johnson is a certified Project Lead The Way (PLTW) high school.  All 9th grade students attending Johnson take one semester of PLTW Essential Engineering where they will learn how to use 3D design software, explore careers in Engineering, and learn to think through difficult problems like a scientist. 

In 10th grade, magnet students can choose Introduction to Computer Programming or PLTW Computer Science and Software Engineering.

11th and 12th grade options include PLTW Biomedical Engineering, PLTW Principles of Engineering, PLTW Civil Engineering and Architecture, PLTW Engineering Design and Development (EDD).  Elective classes for 9-12th graders include Introduction to Industrial Robotics, Introduction to Flight Simulators 1 and 2, and Drone Flight Training. 

Students can receive college credit in the above PLTW classes by passing the college final at the end of the course.  Johnson also offers Advanced Placement (AP) and College in the Schools or CIS (Physics, Biology, Algebra II, American History, Writing, Political Science, Literature, and Education).  Our students perform the best in the district in our CIS offerings.  Johnson offers the most PLTW offerings in the district

Johnson’s MIT certified Fab Lab includes four 3D printers, two Laser Engravers, Vinyl Cutter, Image Scanner, Wind Tunnel, Festo Trainers, and a Circuit board maker.  We also have seven state of the art Flight Simulators and newly acquired drones for student use.
