Melanie Lunda: Choral Director/Piano Teacher
Hello! My name is Melanie Lunda (Tlusty), and I am the choir and piano teacher at Johnson High School! I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls with a Bachelors of Music Education! I absolutely love my job, and I have been teaching at JHS since 2018. I teach a variety of music courses including: Treble Choir (beginning soprano/alto choir), Concert Choir (SAB choir), Govie Singers (SATB honors choir), and all three levels of piano.
As someone who initially struggled to read music, I am passionate about teaching students music literacy! It is important to me that students learn how to read music, so that they can be independent in their musicianship! The sky is the limit with the right set of tools! My goal as an educator is to build a strong sense of community in my classroom, develop strong, competent, and independent musicians, and evoke in my students a lifelong passion for music. One of my students described choir like this: "When you join choir, you find a family and a place to belong. No matter who you are, where you've been, or what you believe, you are welcome here."
