    LOVE SPORTS AND WANT TO BE PAID TO BE A PART OF IT? Saint Paul Parks and Rec needs umpires/refs for youth sports.  Check out this link to learn more. They need scorekeepers!  Must be 16+ for refs and umpires, but only 14+ for scorekeepers. Last call for kids to work in the snow chalet!

     

    FREE BUSINESS CLASS: Try Girls with Impact with US Bank Foundation!  Learn the basics for starting your own business.  Class start Feb. 12 and are virtual.  See flyer here.

     

    SAINT PAUL FIRE EXPLORERS OPEN HOUSE: If you are interested in Fire Fighting or EMT, consider joining the Fire Explorers!  You'll learn skills for the job and get a real sense if the career is right for you.  You'll also meet Saint Paul Fire Fighters and EMTs.  Find your mentor here!  Open House is Thursday, Feb. 1 from 630-8pm at the Saint Paul Fire Training Facility located at 1683 Energy Park Drive in Saint Paul.  Regular meetings are Thursdays from 530-8pm until the end of August.  See flyer here.  Webpage with information is also here.

    MACALESTER SUMMER CLASSES ARE OPEN NOW!  Macalester College offers many classes for students in 8-11 grades during the summer.  There is a cost, but financial aid is available.  See this flyer to pick your classes and learn how to apply.

     

    FIRST RESPONDER CAMP: This June 24-28 for sophomores, juniors and seniors (ages 16-18) who are interested in a career as a first responder.  This includes law enforcement officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and firefighters.  The camp is free, but limited to 24 students.  Applications are due by May 31.  See form here.  You have to scroll down to the "1st Responder Camp" area and download this form

     

    SENIORS THINKING OF A CAREER IN ENERGY:  Check out the Energy Careers Academy.  These are degree programs designed to train you as an electrical line worker or gas utility construction and service worker. There is high demand for these jobs and job placement assistance is available.  Find out more here.

     

    EARN AS YOU LEARN- This program provides SPPS high school students the opportunity to earn a $300 stipend to learn financial literacy skills, earn a certificate and/or credential to show work readiness.  Certificates include: Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and/or Excel), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CPR/First Aid/AED, Customer Sales and Service, and more!

    The commitment of time is around 30 to 50 hours.

    UNLEASH POTENTIAL: FAMILY EMPLOYMENT RESOURCE FAIR!  Explore employment opportunities, training, wealth building and other supportive resources for ages 16 and up and their families!  Its at Arlington Hills Community Center from 6-7:30 on Feb. 13, March 12, and April 9.  Here is a link to learn more!

     

    SENIORS WHO NEED DRIVERS LICENSES:  If you are a senior and about to enter a job certificate/training program that requires a drivers license, please consider the Driver's License Academy.  Here is the link.

     

    SENIORS WHO ARE UNSURE OF YOUR FUTURE: Consider Earn and Learn through Ramsey County.  There are many different training programs that can get you set up with a good job until you figure out what's next.  Not everyone is ready for college- and heading into the world of work can be scary.  Check out these programs

     

    TREE TRUST: Tree Trust will be hosting a Spring Career Fair on Wednesday, March 6th at Arlington Hills Community Center.  They will be hiring for Summer Youth Employment, 14-21.  The Branches Tree Care and Landscaping Program, ages 18-28, the Saint Paul Planting Program (ages 16-18) and Summer Staff (ages 19+).  The Fiar lasts from 11am to 5pm.  There is free food if you RSVP by email to Joan Frenz joan.frentz@treetrust.org

    Ramsey County Library offers many events for "teens."  Some are on location, some are virtual.  Check it out here.

    There is a Best Buy Teen Tech Center here in our neighborhood!  Do you need a quiet place to study?  Need some tutoring?  Are you looking for access to technology?  Check out the Best Buy Teen Tech Center at CLUES!   Here is their website.

    Check out CREATECH at Arlington Hills Library.  Here is more information and available dates.  Its for 12-18 year olds!  There is also a Homework Center at Arlington Hills and Dayton's Bluff and Sun Ray.  All start at 4 until 7pm if you need a quiet place to do work or some tutoring help!
