Welcome to 2nd Grade at the Online School!

Dear Families,

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to an exciting year of learning, growth, and discovery in 2nd grade at the SPPS Online School. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child can thrive. 

Curriculum and Minnesota State Standards: In 2nd grade, our curriculum is aligned with the rigorous Minnesota State Standards, ensuring that your child receives a well-rounded education. From language arts and mathematics to science and social studies, we will guide your child through a variety of engaging subjects that promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Literacy: Your child will continue to build on their reading and writing skills, delving into more complex texts and expressing themselves through creative writing activities.

Mathematics: Second graders will explore mathematical concepts and real-world problem-solving, laying the foundation for a strong mathematical understanding.

Science: Our science curriculum encourages curiosity as students investigate the natural world.

Social Studies: Your child will develop an understanding of communities, cultures, and history, fostering a sense of global awareness.

Enrichment: Alongside the core subjects, your child will have opportunities for art, technology, physical education, and more, nurturing their diverse talents and interests.

Classroom Community: We believe in creating a positive classroom community where each student feels valued, respected, and supported. Our emphasis on teamwork, empathy, and communication will help your child develop strong social skills and friendships.

Communication: Open communication between families and educators is vital.
