Bethany McGraw

Hi! My name is Bethany McGraw and I am so excited to be working with SPPS Online this year! What I enjoy most about online learning is the flexibility in scheduling to meet student needs.

I received my Bachelors in Broad Area Social Studies from University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and my M. Ed in Trauma and Resilience in the Classroom from Concordia University-Portland. I have also completed graduate studies at Northeastern University in Boston in International Relations: Conflict Management and Foreign Policy. After finishing my studies, I spent time working in the non-profit world with anti-trafficking in NYC and SE Asia. I have taught with SPPS for the past 10 years both as a Social Studies teacher and teaching AVID. This year I will be teaching US History, Government, Economics, Indigenous Studies, and Law and Justice (Street Law). What I love most about teaching is using Social Studies to help students understand how the world works, how we interact with other humans, and how they can use this information to transfer into their lives outside of academia.

In my spare time I enjoy hiking with my dogs (I have three), traveling (I have been to over 25 countries), and spending time with my family.
