This Inquiry At Home Challege focuses on exploring the question of how things fly. We see different things flying in different ways, but how do they do it? After you explore the question, use what you learn to help Batman or Batgirl build a device to help them fly!
It is your job to learn about how different things fly in different ways. Then use that information to design and build a flying device to help Batman or Batgirl fly through the air.
Here is a YouTube video that helps us understand how birds fly. Can we learn anything from the shape of bird wings that would help us design a flying maching?
Here is a video that explains how airplanes can fly. Airplanes work a little bit differently because they need a force (or thrust) to fly, but what can we learn from airplane designs that can help us make a flying device for Batman or Batgirl?
Here is a video that explains how kites work, and gives ideas for how to build your own. Can we use ideas from how a kite works to help us design a flying device?
Check out this video that helps us understand how parachutes work. What could we learn from parachutes to help us?
