Ms. Katherine (Katie) Miley

Ms. Miley has been at EXPO for five years and has been teaching in the Saint Paul Public Schools for nineteen years. Katie graduated from Saint Catherine's University in 1986 with a degree in Foods and Nutrition. After working for the WIC program for 11 years, she went back to St. Catherine's University for a degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Miley also received her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Catherine's University; she has taught sixth grade and Kindergarten and is licensed to teach grades K-6.

When not at EXPO, Katie enjoys being with her family and friends. She likes to read, swim, travel, ski and walk the beach at her family's place in Naples, Florida. Katie loves shopping and spending time with her neices and nephews. She is an avid reader and loves to read historical fiction. During the summer, Ms. Miley enjoys spending time at the pool.

Katie has always lived in the Twin Cities and currently lives in Mendota Heights. She comes from a very large family with seven brothers and one sister and has a close relationship with her neices and nephews.

Katie feels very fortunate to teach at EXPO because the students, parents and staff are extremely supportive. She loves to see the excitement her students have for learning! She is guided by one of her favorite Anne Frank quotes, "No one ever became poor by giving." This guides her professional practice because it encourages her to put her students' needs first.
